How To : Carbon Fibre Decal for Car Hood
Written by Max

Who woudn't want to beautify your 1/24 car bonnet with a carbon fibre one?

Here's how to do it for the Tamiya Evo VI bonnet.

The hood is a bit complicated to lay the carbon fibre decal. But with patience and a steady hand, I am sure you can do it as well.

1. After you have done the main body colour and gloss coated the surface. Use masking tape to lay on the hood.

2. Use a new sharp blade and cut to shape.

3. Now you have your template of the hood.

Now to cut to shape on the Carbon Fibre decal.

(Note, good to have about 1-2mm allowance at the side for any final adjustments)

4. Using soft paint brush to apply the decal softener slowly and carefully.

As the decal softens.. use blade to cut the holes.

Take note to slice the decals to the corners of the holes so that the decal can fold inwards.

I took 1.5 hours to slowly conform the CF decal to the whole hood.

(includes waiting time for the decal to soften)
